FRANCISCAN LOVE IS NON-JUDGMENTAL HUMAN COMPASSIONATE ALL-ACCEPTING COMFORTING FORGIVING GENEROUS JOYFUL STILL AT WORK

Love At Work, became Love STILL At Work!

For the Franciscan Friars, COVID didn’t stop our mission, it made us more needed. We had more people come to us for help. We saw and are seeing more and more hunger, even some starvation. We witnessed more children in need.

We are urgently trying to help as best we can, but it seems that more and more people are in desperate need. We have provided groceries for over 4,550 families in the past 12 months. We have fed 109,500 meals to the homeless who came to our door this past year, and they are still coming.

We can only continue to help when you are helping us. When you support us, we can support the others who need basic life necessities. Without your financial support, our help ends. Without YOU, our work will end.

The Franciscan Challenge Campaign is the Annual Fundraising Appeal to Support the needs and works of the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province.

The Franciscan Friars urgently need your support. Only when you take The Franciscan Challenge Campaign can the Friars continue to provide basic life necessities of food, shelter, and medical attention to our brothers and sisters in need during this worldwide pandemic. Without YOU, our work will end.

100% of your donation goes to ministries providing services to the poor, assisting in the education of young Friars, and care for our elderly Friars who have cared for so many for so long.

What Does The Franciscan Challenge Support?

ASSIST IN THE EDUCATION
OF YOUNG FRIARS

Help assist us in educating our young Friars for ministry. They will be the Franciscan presence in the future as they continue the accepting, joyful spirit of St. Francis. As we see our church struggling with many issues, we need educated young Friars who will bring the gospel to a rapidly changing world.

CARE FOR THE POOR

Help us to transform the lives of so many poor children, women and men, who come to us for the basic necessities of daily life. As Friars, we empower more than 2 million people each year to live with dignity and purpose. We provide food, shelter, and support to lift people out of poverty and into the mainstream.

CARE FOR ELDERLY FRIARS

Help us to care for the elderly Friars who have served so many for so long. These Friars have given their lives to service in so many ways through the sacraments, prayer, preaching and living the Word of God. Now they need your help to walk with them on their journey to their final yes to God.

What is the work of the Franciscan Friars?

The core of our mission is to live out a Gospel life and serve all the people of God regardless of their faith, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or nationality.

What makes the Franciscan Friars different?

The Franciscan Friars have always been thought of as “of the people and with the people.” Living in community is one of our core values and helps the Friars to be a little more down to earth. The Friars never see themselves as better than anyone and are not judge-mental and are very accepting of everyone.

Why do the Franciscan Friars need money?

The Franciscan Friars do not beg for themselves but for others and most importantly for the poor and desperate they serve. However, there are times that need a stronger call and that is now. In the tradition of begging, we are asking for money for three very important causes: • one to educate our young men who desire to become Franciscan Friars • for our work with the 2 million poor and desperate men, women and children who come to us each year, a tradition we have been doing for over 800 years • and to take care of our sick and elderly Franciscan Friars who have helped so many for so long and now need care of themselves. We believe in actions over empty words. We believe in Love At Work. Help us to put this love into action – please give generously to the Franciscan Challenge!

"If not for the Franciscan Friars I wouldn't be where I am today. I can very possibly still be homeless.
They went above beyond to make sure I was fed, clothed and had all the necessities to make it through this.
I am so grateful to them."

Stories of Franciscan Love

Lock Down In Place. No Mask, No Service. Online Learning Only. No Hugs, Touch Elbows. Closed Due To COVID. Furloughed For Now. Social Distance? What’s that?  Outdoor dining in January?  Unemployment SOARS

THESE ARE ONLY SOME OF THE PHRASES
ALL OF US HAVE HEARD OVER THE PAST YEAR.

These phrases and others like them indicate something else:
No food, no formula, no diapers, no shelter, no clothing and no transportation.
Bare cupboards and empty refrigerators became the norm for so many.
But for The Franciscans, nothing stopped, things only accelerated. We had more people come to us for help.
COVID didn’t stop our mission, it made us more needed. Franciscan Love Is Still At Work.
